Linmere's fairtrade focus
This week Linmere have had a themed approach to their work under the theme of Fairtrade. This is aimed at raising the issues of Fairtrade through various subjects whilst linking with our International Schools Theme. We have used our current literacy unit of debate and persuasion as a vehicle to open debates on Fairtrade and the issues that surround it for all invested parties. The children have produced some lovely scrap books showcasing their work and exploring the products and their journeys.
Sewing Club
This is a nice shot of the children in Blakemere who took part in the Sewing Club this week with Mrs Garner and Mrs O'Gorman.
Olympic Architect
This week the children in Blakemere have had the opportunity to work with an Olympic Architect. Ben came in to work with the children on Tuesday and taught them many skills including how to tie elastic bands effectively, how to make sure your design is secure, how you can use triangles to make your sculpture stand up on their own and the correct vocabulary for the different shapes they were making. They used a range of different sized wooden sticks to create large 'Olympic Sports' themed sculptures.
Learning about shapes
This week Oakmere Class have been extremely busy and creative. We have been learning about shapes in numeracy and have made some fantastic symmetrical shields for knights. The children have had fun making 3D castles and labelling the shapes used within, making repeating patterns and finishing and designing their own symmetrical pictures.
