Hatchmere Spring Term 2020

Welcome back to Hatchmere after what we hope was a refreshing and fun filled Christmas!

We are very excited to start the new term and have lots of fun activities planned for the children. The topic web above outlines the early learning goals to be met this term. However, please note, the list is not exhaustive and we maximise learning opportunities wherever possible, and as always plan from the children's interests as we go along.

Literacy

The children will complete daily phonics. This term we will begin on phase 3 and build on our skills of segmenting and blending. There will be more opportunities for writing in both planned activities and the continuous provision. Reading will continue as usual, books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday. Please remember to record when you read at home with your child so we are able to swap their books.

Maths

We will continue to develop our understanding of number, counting and ordering. The children will use a variety of resources to add and subtract numbers within 10, 20 and beyond depending on their progress. We will also look at doubling and halving numbers. Activities within the continuous provision will allow children to explore number at their own rate and consolidate skills they learn as a group.

Forest Skills

We will recommence our weekly outdoor sessions on a Tuesday afternoon using the field and woodland area. Please ensure children have wellies in school for these days, you are welcome to leave them in lockers as the Autumn term.

Show and Tell

Please note, show and tell will now focus on uploads on your child's learning journey. Your child will be able to show and talk to the class about one or two photographs per week.

Each week the class blog will have more details about what learning has taken place each week, this is a useful guide for ideas to support and extend your child's learning at home if you wish.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Wood, Mrs Lathaen and Mr Hunt
