There has been lots of excitement this week as Oakmere have been eagerly anticipating their first swimming lessons of the year!

Oakmere thoroughly enjoyed their swimming lessons this week and they made us incredibly proud with their effort and fantastic behaviour. A really big thank you to the Cartwright family for providing this wonderful opportunity for the children.

In Literacy this week, the children have been writing their own senses poems. Using the beach as their inspiration, they worked together to think of things that they would be able to see, smell, touch, taste and hear at the seaside. The children then challenged themselves to think of some alliterative adjectives! The children thought of some great ideas such as 'delicious doughnuts', 'clicking crabs' and 'salty sea water'.

We have started a new topic in maths this week. The children have begun to look at telling the time. This week has focused on using key vocabulary and learning the days of the week and months of the year. Although this can be a tricky topic, the children have worked really hard.

The children loved getting out in the sunshine to go on a wild flower hunt in the forest area for our science lesson. The children were able to name and identify a wide range of plants and flowers. They loved using the buttercup to check if they liked butter!

In Topic, the children explored two different composers: Bach and Mozart. The children loved listening to their music and drawing how it made them feel and were amazed at some of the facts that they learned. They were particularly shocked that Mozart wrote his first piece of music at 5 years old!

We hope you all have a relaxing weekend (fingers crossed the sunshine comes out for us!),

Miss Lewis, Mrs Carroll and Miss Cross.
