This week Sandymere have been looking at persuasive writing and the features to include when trying to persuade someone.

In groups they were set a task to try and persuade Mr Taylor to get a new family pet. We we’re really impressed with how well they all worked together and how engaging their writing was! Please take a look at our twitter feed for some videos of the children performing their persuasive writing. We’re now working on writing persuasive letters to a character from the book we’re focusing on. We started our first draft on Thursday and were so impressed with how well the children did in their writing, using lots of features weve been learning about.

In maths we’ve been learning all about 3D shapes and their properties this week. Again, the children have really impressed us with their knowledge and have been able to recall facts about the shapes using mathematical language to describe them.

In topic this week we created a timeline of all the different periods of music starting at the medieval time period. The children really enjoyed listening to example pieces of music from each time period and could talk about them in detail. Its brilliant to see how much the children are enjoying our new topic.

Starting this week, Sandymere will now be changing their books on a Tuesday and a Friday due to the library being used by other children. We’re still working through benchmarking with the children and are super close to finishing now. We apologise this has taken longer then normal because of the bubble closure and staff illness.

Thank you to all the children who are completing their homework each week, the Sandymere class email is monitored once a week as well as purple mash and mymaths.

We hope you have a lovely bank holiday weekend,

Miss Hume, Mrs Lloyd, Mrs Dodd and Mr Taylor
